Based on University of Wollongong’s ICT planning

Mission statement
Unique competencies and business scope and vision. Based on Buhalis(2006) For example "We're the leader of Spa and Restuarant in the region within two years". This could help us focus on our target where we want to go.

Strategic alliances
Based on Buhalis(2006)In the future we can make connect or joint venture with other types of business or different organizations such as Hotels, Theature. For example the customers booked the hotel room get a coupon discount for our Spa or restuarant.

I picked up from Buhalis(2006).This will help us draw details for plan, function and outcome to estimate how much money to spend on certain kind of exspense such as market budget, operation budget and investment.

Control and Feedback
This plan will control a good quality of product or service and able to know the customer’s feedback to apply for improved. 1. Firstly about vision of the company has to be clearly with direction that the company will be or want to be. As can notice some example from Wollongong University’s ICT planning.

The next part “Goal and Objective” the idea of that is quite good to be the objective. Especially “Adopted of new technology and innovation in both of business” this one is give the clear goal and really fit with the ICT planning.

However the strategy of your ICT planning is confused what the organization will do. Based on Buhalis (2003) the strategic is the definition of how to do or what company will do. As this theory the thing that should be is thing like providing the reservation online system or online catalogue for the customer.
About key action and measures in this part I can see the thing that would be a good idea for our organization. Also including human ware which most of ICT planning forget to mention about.

Control and Feedback- I’m quite confused that how to work on this one or in my understanding just give the feed back to the manager. In this part it is should be the system to correct the feedback data from the customer thought the internet same as ICT planning of Australian Government: Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Last thing I found that your ICT planning is very similar to my planning. It will better to put your own idea or try to make it more different for discussion.

  2. I cannot totally agree with “vision statement”. Hence, according University of Wollongong’s ICT plan, you can see that a vision should be something that clearly foresee the organization’s position in the future. Yet, your vision looks more like a mission statement for me and it does not reflect on what the organization may want to see itself in the next 10 years. For example, I think what you have mentioned in your goals and objectives “Become an established community boutique spa and restaurant destination in the future” it can be re-modified a bit to set a vision such as “Become a well-established community boutique spa and restaurant by creating an effective work environment for our staff to deliver high standard of service to the customers and increase productivity “.

Moreover, prior to vision, the organization should determine its current position with reference to Buhalis(2003) which then can enable the organization to set more effective objectives and goals mean time coming up with a stronger vision.

Next, looking at the objectives and goals, I find it been defined in a too narrow perspective. Thus, in my view, the goals should be clear, measurable, assignable, and realistic and time related as stated by Quinn et al. (2007). Yet, “Always improvement all of business side”, I really do not understand this one and I think it should thus been changed to obtain some clear goals which can help our organization to achieve our vision more effectively.

Focusing on the strategies, I do agree with some of your strategies such as adapting new technologies and innovations and providing support and assistance for faculties and units to be effective. Moreover, providing training is also a great idea especially to let employees in our business to get familiarize with the implemented technologies but then performance appraisal does not fit in here. For instance, I think it is more appropriate to put in the control and feedback section.

Looking at your key actions and measure, I noticed that you highlighted some of the key issues which may be encountered in our business and some key actions which can be implemented to resolve the issues. However, it would have been more effective if you included the people ware (as of who would be responsible to handle the implementations and monitor them and time frame to accomplish the tasks effectively).

Furthermore, I disagree with your “control and feedback” section. Hence, it seems quite confusing and does not show a clear path of steps to be followed in order evaluate the organization as well as employee’s performance. Finally, I do agree with Pakawat’s comment and I also think its looks very similar to his idea of the ICT plan. Hence, if you summarize the ICT plan in your own viewpoint in a different way, it would easier for rest of us to evaluate and come up with an effective ICT plan framework.

  3. Regarding to your post, i felt it is quite similar to the other member.
But anyway, i agree on your concept of good factors for ICT Plan by starting at the vision which must focus on the future what we would like to be, brief word and clear to make the reader understand easily.

Secondly, you mention about the strategy. I think before going to this issue, we must study our SWOT Analysis first to understand more about our factors and structures.

Then, Strategic option --> Strategy direction --> Evaluation.

  4. I found that most of us agree with the way to start with SWOT analysis. So it will better to start in this way to know that which currently position of our organization.

Also same as Malaka about “Always improvement all of business side” it have to be more specific on something that you want to improve. It could be thing like service or marketing port.

Last thing it could be better to set up the Strategy direction in your case to make it more clealy direction.

  6. Hello every one.

I think we agreed on the most important factors. As Pakawat comment to start with SWOT analysis always the first priority for our business because it help us to know our current situation. Then, we will specific our Vision and Mission as per my post. After that we will make the strategy which are now discussing among our group, i think we understand the same but maybe call the different word.
Then, communication and measurement at last.

Pls kindly suggest that do you agree with my idea?

  7. I agree with you to have SWOT analysis at the beginning then we can do Vision and Mission and measurement or control and feedback at last.
